The Adventures of the McFleeter Pets By Emily Age 10 Beachwood, Ohio There once was a family called the McFleeters. There was a mom, Sherrie, a dad, Ron, two little girls, Kayla and Abbie, and two little boys, Adam and Noah. There was also a dog named Snowball and a hamster named Moo Moo. The pets caused a lot of trouble in the McFleeter house. One day, while the human McFleeters were gone, the pets got into TONS of trouble. Snowball decided to explore. He went upstairs into Kayla's room and saw Moo Moo. He thought of a fun game they could play. "Woof, bark, growl, whimper?" said Snowball. To animals what he said meant, 'Do you want play?' (They didn't know proper grammar.) Moo Moo said, "Scratch, show teeth, eat, dig!" which meant, 'We get big trouble!' "Bite cage, eat, drink, stare," said Moo Moo, thinking about the situation again. That meant, 'But, I guess. Sure.' Snowball's idea was to wrestle on the furniture. If they needed to use the bathroom, they could just act like humans and sit in the toilet! If only Snowball knew that humans sit on the toilet. The pets went along wrestling, wrecking the house, and talking. The real trouble came when Moo Moo decided he had to go to the bathroom. While going in the toilet, the McFleeter humans came home! Snowball acted innocent as they looked at the ruined house. Then, Adam and Noah screamed, "Moo Moo is in toilet! I will flush!" "Nooooooo!!!" said the girls together. Ron and Sherrie got him out of the toilet and "punished" the pets by leaving them home with a trainer for a month! They learned lots of tricks. The McFleeters have always wondered why Moo Moo was in the toilet, but nobody will ever know. Suzie Q and Her TATTO! By Savannah & Erin You may think it is odd but a little cup cake got a tatto! It is a black and white big round soccer ball with flames. When Suzie took a bath her mom saw you guessed it the black and white big round soccer ball with flames. Her mom got flaming mad! "Suzie what did you do to your self"!? Asked her blazing hot mom in outrage. But, but, but. No buts! Go to your room! The next day Suzie went school and before lunch she went to the bathroom to wash it off. When she got home her mom realized her mistake. She hugged Suzie Q and felt sorry. And their second story: One cool February day Suzie after skipping school yester day went in the 2nd grade she was dumbfounded to find a celebrity guest speaking to her class about vultures. Mrs. Bryant's class came to order to hear Dolly Parton old friend of her mom speak. Bobby Jo. Poked Suzie on the back. EEEEK Suzie does not scream in class! Suzie was sent home. Suzie after what she had heard thought it was cool. She rummaged through her stuff. Got a boa red high heels and star glasses. She sprinted fast into the dinning room. She screamed I`M READY FOR MY CLOSE UP! Not yet young lady you got sent home go to moms room! Instead of that she put on Salsa Red lipstick her mom came in and said, what happened? It looks like a baby put on your lipstick. I'm sorry. Ahh honey its okay. WE LOVE YOU!!!!! Weather and Mother Nature By Andrew Age 10 Beachwood, Ohio One day, on a normal afternoon in September, a woman named Nature went into the forest a long time ago. She was a mother of twenty-three kids. Everyone who knew her called her Mother Nature. She was going to the forest to find wood for the fire. While Nature was walking, she saw a small, wooden bowl on the ground that said on it, "Weather Bowl." She was really thirsty, so she took a sip. It tasted very sweet. Suddenly, her body started turning clear. Nature kind of looked like a ghost. She panicked and started running home. Before she knew it, she was completely invisible. Once Nature arrived home, she saw her family crying because they thought she was lost. She didn't know what to do, so she just started to cry and fall asleep. The next morning when she woke up, she wasn't where she was before. When she looked around, everything was black. She could see little dots that looked like little bouncy balls. When Nature got up, she noticed she was on the sun. How could she have not burned or noticed that she was on this burning ball of gas. She tried to walk away, but she couldn't. Each time she moved her hands a streak of light shined on the planets. She saw clouds formed. That is how she made rain. If she moved her feet, she would make snow on parts of planets. Every body part made a different type of weather. That is how weather was and still is formed. Kidnapped By Alex Age 11 Beachwood, Ohio "I hate my life," said Rex Altmon to himself. " I don't see why not. Nobody at school likes me, and Elemyer Private School stinks. I wish I could just go to public school at Hilltop. "Help!" screamed Larry, Rex's little brother who Rex was babysitting. "Let me go! Let me go! Rex ran downstairs, and just as he reached the front door they drove away in an ice cream truck that said on the side of it, " Freezy Freezes Factory." "I need to call the police," he said to himself. The home phone was dead. "I guess I'll need to use my cellphone. The cellphone was out of battery. He had save Larry himself. He got on his new bike and headed for the Freezy Freezes Factory. After twenty minutes of riding, he arrived at the entrance. The door was locked, so he went around back through a vent that he could climb through. He crawled through the vents to where he heard Larry and another man talking. Rex overheard the conversation, " Now that we have Dr. Altmon's kid, he is sure to give us the formula in exchange for this kid. Larry commented, "You won't get away with this." "Yah right," said the man as he walked away. This was Rex's chance. He opened the metal concealing the vent and fell to the floor. He released Larry from the chair he had been locked in, and they both looked for a safe way out. They saw an exit. They headed there, and rode away on the bike. They went to the police, and they arrested the evil man. They never had a problem like that again. The Problem Play By Danielle Age: 10 Beachwood, Ohio There is a little girl named Kaylee, who wants to be an actress when she grows up. It is her dream. She is in many plays in her childhood. Right now she is in Babes in Toyland, a play about your favorite fairy tales all joined together. Kaylee plays Little Jack Horner, a very good part for a ten-year old. "Kaylee! Time for play practice!" screamed her mother from the bottom floor. "One minute!" she screamed back to her mom. It was her first time with a huge part. Kaylee ran down the stairs, grabbed her bag, and off she went. "Down at the square. In the mother goose village square!" Kaylee was singing at play practice. "Okay, I need Jack Horner, Jack and Jill, Tommy Tucker, and Lucy Locket to come get fitted for your costume," said Wendy, the director. Off Kaylee went to get fitted along with her friends Megan, Sophia, and some others. "Let's do a read through off the script," says Sean, the music teacher, when Kaylee was getting fitted. "Start from scene five. We know we are missing Jack, Jill, Tommy, and Lucy. I will say their lines." Rebecca, Kaylee's best friend, thought to herself uh oh. She knew Kaylee was gone also. She tried to tell Sean, but it didn't work. When it happened to be Kaylee's line, complete silence. Sean thought she had gone to the bathroom. Ten minutes later, still no Kaylee "I guess Kaylee didn't come today. She's officially not Little Jack Horner!" said Sean cruelly. Rebecca screamed, "She was getting fit for her costume. You didn't remember?" "OOPS!!" said Sean, "Sorry!" "Kaylee is still in the play!" said Sean "Yeah!" said Rebecca. "Kaylee! You were almost kicked out of the play!" "What?" "Tell you later!" "Let's Work!" The Little Bug And His Dream By Jordan Once there lived a little bug that everyone made fun of. He had a big dream and everybody put him down for his dream. This little bug's name was Ernie and he wanted to be a famous baseball player. Ernie wasn't good at playing baseball. He practiced and practiced everyday. Kids at school just kept on teasing Ernie. One day at school, Ernie got picked to play on a baseball team. Ernie was a fast bug and he loved to run. "Strike one," the catcher said. Ernie was mad and swung even harder for the next pitch. "Strike two, the catcher yelled. Ernie. The catcher threw the ball back to the pitcher. Joe wound up his arm and threw the ball right at Ernie's bat. Ernie swung and hit the ball. The ball flew over the over the gate. Ernie had hit a homerun and won the game for his team. Ernie's team celebrated and this continued for years. Ernie kept on getting picked on baseball teams and hitting homeruns for his team through his whole life. Ernie was in his last year of college when, a coach from a professional baseball team came up to Ernie and said, "Kid you have the power and the speed to become a great baseball player." Ernie took the offer and went to play for the New York Yankees. Ernie grew up and turned out to be what he'd dreamed of being in second grade through college. It turns out, all of Ernie's friends didn't get very cool jobs like Ernie did. Ernie was very happy. The moral to this story is if you practice, your determined, and if you put your mind to it you can be anything you want to be. Finding Cho-cho By Tiara One day I woke up feeling glum because yesterday while I was taking a walk with my dogs Co-co and Cho-cho something bad happened. I bent down to tie my shoe and Cho-cho ran away!!! I tried to tell him to halt but he kept on going he kept on going. So I tied Co-co up to a tree and started and started looking for the little fur ball but I did not see him. So the next day I printed out flyers that said; "missing dog is a short brown poodle and answers to the name Cho-cho or Chocolate." It's been the fifth day and he has not come back yet. So I went looking for him one more time Cho-cho I said. Suddenly I saw a hobo walking toward me. "here" he said. I got scared I was ready to run away. Then I saw Cho-cho… "Thank-you Mr. hobo man" I said. Then I gave Cho-cho a big hug and that's how I found Cho-cho. Today my horse talked to me! By Carina Miami Gardens, Florida I came home from school, and went straight to the stables to do my every day chores. After I brushed, cleaned her stable, and gave food and water to my horse Passion, I sat down and told Passion about my day and about all the good things that happened. While I was telling her about my very good day, she said, "I am happy that you had a good day because I don't like to see you sad or mad." I got up and looked around to see who said that and I didn't see any body. After I heard that strange voice I was petting and looking at Passion and she said it again "I am happy that you had a good day because I don't like to see you sad or mad." That was the first time that I found out that Passion and the other horses in the stable can talk. HOW DINOSAURS BECAME EXTINCT By Tatyana Age: 11 Opa Locka, Florida Comet was looking for someone to play with. The only other kids around were the town bully, Asteroid and the Captain of the football team, Meteor. Feeling desperate, Comet walked up to Asteroid and Meteor and asked if he could play with them. Asteroid yelled "Not in this Galaxy"! Meteor howled, "Go find your own Milky Way to play in"! He then gave Comet a swift kick and sent Comet flying. Comet found himself falling toward this big blue ball, Earth. He was so scared he shut his eyes. He was moving so fast, he couldn't control himself. When Comet reopened his eyes he was headed right toward a group of Dinosaurs. Comet cried, "Look out below! Look out below! Meanwhile, on Earth, Stegosaurus, T-Rex, and Pterodactyl were playing catch when they heard shouting from above. Stegosaurus and Pterodactyl were so scared they started running in circles. T-Rex hollered for his friends to run. But it was too late. Comet struck Earth. That's how dinosaurs became extinct. The Disappointed Princesses By Madie Age: 11 All the princesses gathered into the small room. They were there for the meeting of each of their princes. " I am not a prince. I am a messanger here to inform you that the princes won't be here until next year." And with that, he left. " Big bummer,"Arora said with disappointment breaking the silence of all the stunned princesses. " Well we might as well go home now since we are going to have to wait another whole year until our princes come," announced Ariel. With that, alll the princesses went home and ate lunch. THE HAUNTED HOUSE By Emily Age: 9 Beachwood, Ohio There once lived a family five. A mother, Mary, who likes to clean. A dad, Adam, who likes to play sports. A little boy, Matt, six years old who thinks monsters walk this earth. An eleven-year-old girl, Jenny, who likes soccer. Last but not least, an older sister AJ, is a twenty-one year old weird-o. They said nothing and then went to bed. When Jenny and Matt woke up, they ate a bowl of cereal. Then they told AJ they were going to the park but walked to the haunted house. After an hour in the haunted house, they went to leave. The doors were locked. They heard footsteps. Big ones. They turned around. It was a mummy. They went and hid for five minutes. The mummy found them. He was big and scary. The mummy took them and oddly was nice to them. Jenny and Matt made a deal with him. They had to come and visit him everyday, so the mummy would let them free. They shook on it. Then the mummy let them out of the haunted house. Everyday from then on, they visited him. They went back to the house like nothing happened. It was their little secret! The Night of the Dead-Brain Afraid Avenue Halloween Party By Noah Age: 10 Beachwood, Ohio On Halloween, my siblings and I were walking home. We passed the "Haunted House," at 383573-Deadbrain Afraid Avenue. It's the only house on the street. Because everyone was too afraid to live on the street, they moved out. The person who lives there bought up all the houses and built passages to connect them and make one big house. " Let's go to the house tonight and see if it's haunted," said my brother. " No! Besides Mom won't let us," I screamed. "We don't have to tell her," he responded. "I'll go if you guys go," my sister said. "We're in," my two brothers said. "Fine, I'll go," I mumbled. That night, we went to the house and knocked on the door. It opened by itself. We walked in slowly. "I've been expecting you. My name is Freda. Please, come in." "Hi, I'm Joshua. This is Micah, Talya, and Noah," sputtered Joshua. "I'm so glad you came. We need some mortals at this party," replied Freda. "Party?" we asked together. "Yes, we have it every year. All the monsters come. Don't be scared. We're all really friendly. Please stay. We'd really like to have you," she pleaded. "Okay," we answered. As they walked to the party room, they became more comfortable. When they got to the party room, they were greeted by everyone and weren't scared at all. They stayed until it was 12:00 midnight! "It's getting late. We got to get home," said Micah "What are we going to say to Mom when we don't have any candy," asked Talya. "You guys can't mention this to anyone. Here's some candy to cover your Mom. I hope to see you next year," Freda requested. "You will," we said. One Friend For Every Day By Hannah Age: 9 Beachwood, Ohio Hi! My name's Kate. Miss Heart told the class they moved. When I got home, I cried. I felt so sad. My parents couldn't do anything at this point. On Monday, our teacher arrived late, and by her side, a girl stood. She came in wearing a pretty blue dress. She walked right up to the blackboard. Then the teacher said, " Everybody this girl will tell you her name so listen closely." " Topaz " she said. " I came from Israel." At recess, I played with Topaz in a hula-hoop contest. She won. At the end of recess, I knew so much about Topaz. When I ate dinner that night, I told my parents about my day at school. The next day, my teacher had a little boy in green named Zach. He used to live Australia. Wednesday, I met a girl named Emily. He represented all of the chickens in Food Ville. The turkey's name was Dr. Turkey, who represented all of the turkeys of Food Ville. The man's name was George; he represented all of the men of Food Ville. Now, on November 21, 2006, it was only two days from Thanksgiving. George, commanded, "Dr. Turkey, come home with me. I need my Thanksgiving turkey. I have to get you ready for Thanksgiving." Dr. Turkey responded, " No! Why do you always have to eat turkey? Why can't you eat… chicken, Mr. Chicken? He probably tastes just as good. You really don't have to eat me." Mr. Chicken gasped, "No, no, no! Eat turkey! He tastes better, I think. It's not tradition to eat chicken. You have to eat turkey. It is Thanksgiving!" George went home. In one hand was a turkey, and in the other hand was a chicken. The man and his family planned to have a huge Thanksgiving feast! That night, a couple chickens and turkeys broke into George's house. They broke Mr. Chicken and Dr. Turkey out. George heard something. He started to walk downstairs. He saw all the rebels running out of the house. He thought he was too late. Right at that moment, a black cloak was thrown over his head. The chickens and turkey had captured him. The next morning, on the news, the weatherman was talking. A chicken and a turkey interrupted the screen. They each had a nametag on. One read, "Mr. Chicken." The other nametag read, "Dr. Turkey." They were peacefully eating, when the newscaster asked, "Where's George?!" I Want A Pet By Megan Age 8 Monroe Twp, NJ Yesterday, my friend Emily got a pet. That made me want one too. I asked my dad if I could have a pet. He said "What pet do you want?" "A bear," I said. He said, "No, it will scratch everything". "What about a shark.? We can buy a pool to put it in," I said. Sharks do not have sharp claws. My dad said "No, a shark will eat everything". I thought about it for the rest of the day and night. The next day I had school. Emily brought in a picture of her pet. She got a fish. I said to myself, "that's boring". Then an idea popped into my head. I could get a butterfly. When I got home I asked if I could have a butterfly. Dad said no because our cousin was allergic to them. I asked him some more ideas. They were a monkey, gorilla, kangaroo, horse and cheetah. Dad said no for all of the animals. It went on and on for almost a week. My dad said, "Why don't we go to the pet store." I liked that idea. At the pet store, there were hamsters, birds, frogs, fish, cats, and dogs. I said I didn't want a fish. I don't want a frog or toad. Birds are too loud so I am not going to get a bird. I don't want a hamster or a cat. My dad asked, "What about a dog"? "OK," I said. "Only if you promise to do all of the work", Dad said. "OK", I said again. We also got a book on dogs. I named my dog Coby. Coby is better than any animal you can think of. The next day at school. I brought in a picture of Coby. Everybody loved him. Joining By Marc Age: 9 Westport, Massachusetts Once upon a time there was an amazing Saber Toothed Tiger named Tucker the Magnificent. But there was one problem, he lived alone. He was really strong so he thought that was the reason no one asked him to join a pack with them. But one day a pack of Silver Sand Tigers (the strongest and fiercest pack of tigers) came to Tucker's cave and asked if he wanted to join them. He said, "I would love to!" When he got ready to abandon his home the leader told him they were going to look for a new cave, so he had to hurry so they could get on their way to look for their new cave (that's where the rest of the clan was). When they caught up with the rest of the pack, the tiger that was leading told Golden Eye (the leader) that they were almost there. When they finally arrived it was really big! There was a hunting cave right next to the main cave. Tucker asked if he could be in the hunting clan (it's a group that collects food and fights for the rest of the tigers). He also had to sleep in a different cave. When he got in the other cave, the hunter leader (Golden Tooth) said, "Every tiger has to wake up a 5:00 a.m. If you don't wake up at 5:00 you will get thrown out of the Silver Sand Tigers! When you're in the wild you have a 35% chance of surviving. The reason why is because our worst enemy (The Asian Hyenas) will eat you for supper because they're the strongest group of hyenas. So wake up at 5:00!!!!" The Battle Between Earth And The Sun By Hodari One day the Sun was rotating toward Mars and the Earth was watching. The Earth was very jealous; she thought she was much better than the sun. She challenge the sun that if she could last 2 weeks without him; she would prove that she was better than him. The moon heard them arguing about the challenge and said the earth was wrong. Then the earth said I can survive without the sun and the moon. One week later every thing on the earth was freezing The next day the Earth came begging the Sun to come back. The Sun said "not until you apologize". The earth still thought she was better than the sun so she didn't apologize. Three days later the earth came back to apologize to the sun. The sun said it wasn't him she had to apologize to, it was the moon. When she apologized to the moon the moon said "no planet is better than another planet and that's a fact." A Black Cat By Kylie Tillson, NY Ruby woke up excitedly and hurried out of bed. Today was a big day, she was adopting a kitten! Ruby wanted a playmate for her silver German shepherd, Stream. When Ruby and her mom got to the ASPCA a caretaker was finishing with someone else. Ruby asked, "Where are the cats?" The caretaker smiled. "They're in the back. Let's have a look." As Ruby followed the caretaker she looked at all the cats big and small, longhaired and shorthaired. In the last crate was a black cat. Her name was Sapphire. Ruby studied the black cat carefully. "I'd like to hold her please." The caretaker bent to her knees and opened the kennel door. Out popped a long, sleek, black cat. Sapphire rubbed her soft fur against Ruby's legs as she purred loudly. Ruby picked up Sapphire gently and scratched her ears. Sapphire purred even louder. Ruby looked up at mom, they both smiled. "We'll take Sapphire." The caretaker signed the adoption forms and soon Ruby was on her way home - with a kitten. At home Sapphire and Stream started to prance around and play. A few days later Sapphire was outside when a fox shot out of the forest. Sapphire darted toward the thunder path. She was startled by a honking metal monster. She leaped, landing in a basket on two wheels. Sapphire scented something familiar and jumped free. She looked around and spotted the ASPCA. Stepping inside, she rubbed against the caretaker's legs. The caretaker looked down surprised. "Lost already?" Ruby was relieved to hear the caretaker's voice. "Sapphire is at the ASPCA!" Ruby and her mom left immediately. When they arrived, the caretaker walked over and handed Sapphire to Ruby along with Sapphire's old toys. Everyone was happy, especially Sapphire. Ronny's Lucky Feet by Elizabeth Age: 14 Anderson, IN Ronny Rabbit was known for having bad luck. Like the time he thought a snake was a carrot. The snake was orange, long, and carrot like. He took one bite of that snake's tail and the snake went flying, knocking down a hive full of angry bees. Ronny had looked like a balloon when the bees had left. Then he had stopped to smell a flower and a single bee came out. Ronny was afraid at first but then swat, since it was one bee. It left only to come back with friends. He ran into the carrot-snake and the snake chased Ronny into a pond only to have a turtle bite his tail. At the pond he stopped to have a drink, when he heard a sound behind him. He stood on two legs and sniffed. He heard a growl and froze. Out of a bush came a bear. Well, not a real bear but a big dog. The dog ran towards Ronny, and he sat there with his brown ears, the same color as the dog, pulled back in fear. Then with the dog almost to him, Ronny suddenly jumped to the dog's right and fell over his own big ears. He rolled down the hill with the dog following behind as loud as a fire truck. Ron rolled all the way down the hill to the field where the second bee had stung him. Just like before the bees came out only this time went for the largest one there. The dog. The dog yelped and went to the pond to scare the bees away with water. Suddenly an orange snake tripped him into the pond where five turtles bit him. The dog ran away leaving Ronny thinking of lucky feet. Spring Surprises By Samantha Age 9 Rye Brook, N,Y, " Come on girls." Casey's mom said " We are going to be late." Casey and her friends Sharon and Kate were heading to the airport with Mrs.Anderson, Casey's mom. They were all headed to Florida for spring break. They were flying from New York so it would probably take two and a half hours to get there. On the plane the girls talk about how nice they thought it would be in Florida and what a relief it was to be going to Florida instead of that old stinky ski place they used to go to. Soon they were off the plane and they were all headed to get their bags. They all took a bus to a car rental shop where they picked out a red convertible! When they got to the hotel it was very warm so the girls decided to go to the beach. When the girls got to the beach and picked out there spot, the girls laid out there towels and finally got to sit back and relax. After a while the girls decided to take a swim. So when they got to the ocean Casey, Sharon and Kate felt raindrops and headed back to Casey's mom. By the time they reached Mrs. Anderson it was pouring, so they packed up their stuff and headed back to the hotel. They order pizza and watched movies. One movie was about a pirate and the other was about a girl who was famous. When the food arrived Kate was about to take her first bite when suddenly she said " look, the sun came out." All the girls laughed. "Oh well," said Casey " who knows what tomorrows surprises will be." Hallow, Episode #35 By Jesse Honeoye Falls, NY Master Chef and his recruits were just getting ready to play a nice game of T.A.G. (target, arena, game). In this game you use low power plasma pistols to tag each other. Suddenly, the corporal came in and said "get suited up we are going to the planet of the Convenient aliens! We are launching a full scale attack on those convenient boogers." "Why"? said the Master Chef. "They declared war on us five minutes ago because we asked them for some salt, sugar, and white chocolate for some muffins! I hate those darn convenient idiots!" said the corporal. "First, UW (universe war) I, now UWII!" said the first lieutenant. "Sheesh!" said Master Chef. 5 HOURS LATER When the crew arrived at the planet of the Convenient aliens they fired several hundred rotten and boiled eggs and plasma pumpkin seeds at us! We took heavy damage and had to go to the escape pods. Thinking we were dead they boarded our abandoned ship, but we were smarter than they were so we launched the pods without us in them and hid under the floor. Then we jumped out with battle rifles and rocket launchers and blew them to kingdom come. After which we got jet packs on and flew down to their planet. ON THE PLANET OF THE CONVENIENTS We put on our camouflage and snuck into their main base but they were smart and saw us and started shooting. Then Master Chef snuck into the planets' main power source and planted a huge soufflé bomb on it to destroy the planet. But will Master Chef and his allies get out in time or will the planet and the allies be covered in pastries? Find out in the next edition of Hallow ! It would be exciting to go on a trip to the moon! I sent a letter to my best friend Celine that lives in Illinois and I asked her if she could go on a trip to the moon. Then I asked my best friend Angelica that lives here in Florida if she wanted to go to the moon with me and Celine on the spaceship.mm The both said, "Sure!" They both asked their mother and both said, "Yes!" My best friends Angelica and Celine took a spaceship with me to the moon. We had snacks and drinks when we were on the spaceship. First we landed on Saturn, but we thought we were on the moon. My friend Angelica said, "We're not on the moon!" So, we took the spaceship and we turned back to go to the moon. We hope we don't get lost. We got to go to the moon and there was a pool at a clubhouse there. We climbed the hill and we went in the pool to swim. The aliens on the moon didn't know how to add. We counted some eggs for some of the aliens. Then we counted bones and put them all together to make a math fact. We counted some moon rocks and the aliens counted the stars up in space. We were being their teachers for a little while and so we read them some books about math. The aliens finally knew how to add because they counted so many things, put the things together, and we read a bunch of books about math to them. My friends and I went back to the spaceship, flew home, and landed safely on Earth. The Evening I Found Myself Dreaming. By Jarron-Charles Age 11 Miami, Florida North Dade Middle School Halloween Morning: It all started on a cool, relaxing Halloween morning, I had been dressing up to go to school. I was thinking that all of my friends had been waiting to scare me at school. As I rode up to school on the school bus I began to notice that everything looked so different than what the usual Halloween is at school. So, I suddenly ran up to my friend and said something funny but he didn't laugh, instead, he constantly looked at me with a mean, vicious, and horrible look. I had to think about what was wrong, then, it had all come to me. The day before this I had saw something that said "people don't stay the same when the weather changes". The weather yesterday had been hot and everyone was happy but, today the weather is cool and people are acting strange. Also, a ghost had warned me about Halloween this year, she said that it would be a little weird. The school day was about to end and everything was gray. I got back on my bus to go home and every passenger on my bus was unhappy. Halloween night had come and this time it was even freakier. Everyone was suddenly happy except for me I was miserable (that didn't stop me from going trick-or-treating.) By 11:00 pm this event was over and the streets were empty. I know what I had to do I had to fight against darkness. Darkness was coming my way so with my powers I struck it with my fists. That didn't work, so, I used a flashlight and darkness was defeated!!! I woke up to see it was all a dream... How was Halloween? By Shannon Age: 14 "So, Andrew," said Teacher, "How was Halloween?" "Tell me your story, start, end and between." "Oh no!" I think to myself, "What a mess! It was nothing but normal. Oh, I mustn't confess!" I look in her eyes and stare for a minute. I think up a story and then I begin it. "I was walking alone as the sky turned to dark when I saw a weird creature, half-snail and half-shark On top of his back was a slimy frog man with a hat on his head and a sword in his hand But as he was about to attack a witch flew by and he stumbled back Yes, a real live witch with green skin and a broom…" I stopped to take a look 'round the room. My teacher was staring wide eyed at me and classmates were gathering, to hear, eagerly. "Was there a dinosaur?" one of them wondered. "Was there a snow storm?" another one thundered. "Yes! There was a terrible blizzard, and way more than one of those gigantic lizards!" I went on to tell 'bout the snakes and the rats, the ghosts and the goblins and the army of cats. "Okay," said my teacher, "that's quite enough!" See? Fooling my teacher, it isn't that tough. THE BOY WHO CRIED By Tyler Age: 8 Davisville, WV Once upon a time there was a boy who just cried and cried and cried! He cried when people talked to him. Sometimes he just cried for nothing. His dad got to the point where they had to take him to the family doctor. When they got to the doctor the boy cried! The doctor looked at him. He said he had cry fever. The boy didn't know a lot. He was only 5 years old. The doctor gave the boy some medicine. The medicine was called Crylenol. He had to take it 2 times a day and take it 14 times in a week. Each day the boy didn't cry as much. The last day he took it he stopped crying forever! He and his family went back to the doctor with a smile and this time the boy didn't cry, but the parents cried with emotion. Mall Madness By Jessica Age: 12 Bridgeview, Illinois Jessica and her two best friends, Sam and Amani, were getting ready to head to the mall. There was a cd and book signing with Hannah Montana. They also heard people telling rumors of "the blond wig". This was a story about Hannah wearing a wig while she's on stage. The three girls didn't care for that rumor. So, the three girls headed off with their books and cds. When they got there they bumped into a girl who looked exactly like Hannah. She said that her name was Miley and that she was in a big rush. The three girls carried on. When they got to the line they saw Miley go through the back of the store where Hannah was. Jessica and her friends just waited in line for a while. When they got to the front they noticed a brown piece of hair in Hannah's face. It was the color of Miley's hair. So, Sam asked Hannah if they could talk to her in private. Being the nice person she is she said sure. They told her of the piece of hair and she showed them her real identity. She said thank you because someone else could have figured out her other side.mm So the three girls became friends and when Hannah was done they hung out at Amani's house. They were so happy and so they were friends forever. The True Heart By Keven Age: 11 Miami Gardens, FL Many have tried to find this lost heart. The only heart that is truly pure. Until now that is. One afternoon a small child was exploring around his house. Suddenly, he felt a rush of hot air. Naturally, he followed it and it transported him to the core of the Earth. Then at that instant, he felt like he was sinking rapidly. Then stopping almost immediately he saw a shining figure with the radiance of an angel. As the small child got closer he began to grow older. Instantly, he was back safely in his bed. He was two when he left his room but when he returned he realized that he had grown into a six year old. It was a long time before his mother could figure out who he was. The boy could not remember his journey to the core of the Earth because his memory had been wiped clean. So he lived on with his life without knowing that he was the only person to have seen the true heart. Friends By: Nicole Friends are somebody that you can depend on. They can be trusted to keep secrets. They'll never lie to you or talk bad about you behind your back. A friend is a person that you can get along with in or even outside of school. They would be respectful to the environment, themselves, and you. They'll be nice to you and you'll be nice back. She or he'd share the pillows if you don't have one. A friend is somebody that would want to hang out with you. They wouldn't get you in trouble at school or make you do stuff that you don't want to do. They'd pick you up when you're sad and in the blues. A friend is somebody that puts a smile on your face and could even make you laugh. They'd be there for you right when you need them the most. Like if you needed a hug or even a shoulder to cry on they'd be there. They'd be happy to lend a hand and help you out with anything.nn A friend is somebody that you can keep in touch with even if they're out of states. You could write to them everyday to tell each other about how you've been doing. That's what a true friend is all about. Bounce… Bounce… Bounce… By Anthony Miami Gardens, Florida Bounce, bounce, bounce, swoooooosh went the ball through the snow white net and there goes the crowd rooooooooooar! Anthony Clay the MVP of the game scores the winning points of the game. Man I wish I was him, he has it all. He's the most popular boy in school and on top of that he's smart and all of the girls love him. I wonder how he gets so good in basketball. When he plays it seems as though he is floating on clouds as he jumps in the air to make at least fifty points a game. Even though he's good in basketball I feel happy for him because I think that he lets out all of his sadness and hurt from his relatives death on the basketball court when he is doing his thing. But even though he has sad times I think sometimes he gets a little stuck up with his popularity and goodness in basketball. I say this because one day we did not have to wear our uniform and he wore his fancy Jordan basketball outfit. He wouldn't even speak to us as we stood in the breeze way. I just looked at him and said boy, I will never be that way. I mean that! No matter how much wet I get in my shot and no matter how popular I become I will continue to treat my friends with respect. My story is a fable and the moral of this fable is: It's always better to treat people the way you want to be treated! It's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice! Princess Alena By Alena Endicott, NY How I think it would be to be a princess! I think that there would be a bedroom with a Bed with gold drapes hanging from the ceiling. I also think servants would serve me breakfast, Lunch and dinner. In my bedroom I would have one hunded dresses And one hundred shoes. The last things I would like to live like a Princess are servants who would do all the cleaning and fluff my pillows every night. Last not lest I would have an inside pool and an outside pool. My family would live there too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanksgiving Day By Sean Age 5 Winter Garden, Florida I eat turkey on Thanksgiving Day! My friends love pumpkin pie. The Flower and the Bumblebee By Becky Queen Creek, AZ There was a little bumblebee, Who lived in a hive in a tree, He worked all day and slept at night, Some would say he was always in flight. A little pink flower grew on a hill, When the wind did not blow she would hold quite still, She would wait for the day when a bee would pass by, Then hold up her head to the great blue sky. One day the little bumblebee came upon a hill, One lone pink flower stood there very still, He came up and wished her "Good day", Then gathered some pollen and flew on his way. The bee was happy; the flower was too, They had both completed the task they must do, So that night they settled in, And fell asleep, each with a grin. The Mean King and Queen By Tyler Age 8 Davisville, WV Jefferson Elementary Once upon a time there was a brave king and a brave queen, but the king and queen were bossy. They had servants who always took care of them. They always demanded food. They always thought about food and their favorite food was watermelon and kiwi. Day after day they ate watermelon and kiwi and always wanted their food to be just right! When it was time for bed guess what? More watermelon and kiwi! When they got in their beds they couldn't go to sleep because they had eaten too much watermelon and kiwi. I'll let you in on a secret. They king and queen had no friends at all. The king and queen didn't know very much because they didn't go to school. That's one reason why they had no friends. One day they were out of watermelon and kiwi and they were furious! They demanded watermelon and kiwi! Their servants had heard enough. They said, "We quit!" They stomped out of the kingdom! The king and queen yelled for the servants to come back. After the servants did not return the king and queen said, "I guess we'll have to do things on our own now." So they went to buy some food at the supermarket. The first thing they saw was watermelon and kiwi. When they got home with the food they said, "Doing things on your own isn't so bad." Day after day they ate watermelon and kiwi on their own and they lived happily ever after! Magic Words By Jessie Anna strolled down the hallway, waving to her friends as she passed. It was a very hot day and she loved the way the fan blew against her face as she walked to class. She walked into the classroom. She walked up to the nearest desk. She leaned on it. When she picked up her hand, she found it was covered in sparkles! She cocked her head to the left so she could see the big white-faced clock on the wall above the teachers desk. It was 11:57, so she was three minutes early. The rest of the class shouldn't arrive until 12:05 when class starts. She tilted her head down from where she was looking at the clock, and found not her teacher sitting at the desk, but a plump lady with a wand. The lady had iridescent wings that shone in the light and sparkled. The lady was blowing sparkles all over the room using her star-shaped wand. The lady was a fairy! "Why hello!" she exclaimed enthusiastically. "Uh, hi." Anna stuttered in shock. Who is this lady? "Why I am a fairy! You are a pumpkin!" she announced. What? Anna looked down at herself. The fairy was right. She was a pumpkin. Anna didn't know what to do! "TURN ME BACK!" Anna screeched. "No can do lass," the fairy giggled. "You didn't ask the right way." She giggled. "Turn me back NOW?" Anna screeched again. "Beep! Wrong again!" the fairy gasped while suffering from a fit of hysteria. "Fairies can only use magic when magic words are spoken. "Please?" Anna muttered. "Correctamundo!" the fairy waved her wand, and was gone. Magic words, Anna thought over. Magic words. Anything you want with that singular magic word. How A Caterpillar Became A Butterfly By Lizzie Age: 11 Beachwood, Ohio There once lived a green caterpillar. The caterpillar ate a big, lime-green leaf. She grew bigger and bigger and bigger… until she fell asleep. While she slept, she suddenly felt her skin begin to get as hard as rock. She quickly dropped down on the leaf so she could hang. Inside, she was becoming a butterfly! A week later, I saw her come out. She was a butterfly! She couldn't fly at first, but she soon learned how. Sadly, I watched the bright orange and black butterfly fly away in the soft breeze. This was how the gorgeous, green caterpillar became a lovely carrot-like orange and beautiful jet-black striped butterfly How High? By Erin Plymouth, Minnesota Every time I look at the sky, I see the see the sun, and I wonder, how high? Could I reach up and grab it? Could I jump up and catch it? And how does it stay in the sky? And sometimes I wonder if I could fly, would I go up there and run with it across the sky? Can the birds touch it, and the clouds hug it? And do they say to the sun, "Hi"? Every day this makes me wonder how high? I wish I could be that high. And now I wonder why. I think if I tried to jump in the sky, I would float along on a cloud so fine to a big, bright star and shake hands with the sun on a wonderful rainbow ride. Maybe, just maybe, if only I tried. Emma the Elf's day with Santa By Laura Wayzata, Minnesota Emma was a little elf that liked to play all day. She had long, orange hair. Emma went to Elf school four times a week with all her little elf friends. One day, Emma was chosen to spend a day with Santa. So she got on her little green boots, and she pulled her little elf dress over her little elf head, and she stuck her little green hat over her little elf ears. Emma walked over to the Santa headquarters, and she walked in the big Santa doors, and she went up to the big Santa desk, and asked the elf behind the desk, "Were do I go to meet Santa?" The elf behind the desk pointed to the big, long hallway. So Emma started walking down the hallway, when she got to the end she saw a door that said, "This way to Santa." She went through the door, and saw Santa! Emma walked up to Santa and shook his hand and Santa said: "Hi, I'm Santa, and you must be Emma, you are going to be my head elf for the day." Emma was so exited, she was going to be Santa's head elf for the day! Emma's first task of the day was to start all the worker elves from making dolls into making toy boats. She did that and then she went back to Santa. Then he told her to go get his sled ready for that night, she had to set up the reindeer, and then she had to polish the sled. Then it was time to go home, Emma wasn't ready to go home, she was having fun, but then she thought, I will get to be Santa's helper again, after she was done with elf school. A Day in the Life of a Clown a.k.a. A Silly Story for Grand Flex By Eric Plymouth, Minnesota Hi, I'm Jeff Reporterman. Welcome to my show, 'A day in the life of…'. Today we went onto the streets and found Bert, a hilaaaaaarious clown that roams the Tinyville Circus. He makes kids laugh all day. He smashes pies in his face, he gets shot out of a cannon, he jumps through fire and tames tigers. He's so brave, he wears makeup!! We start here in Bert's tricycle as he is ready for his show. Bert has his big red nose and his big red shoes. Bert parks right out in front of the "Clowns Only" door into the circus. Bert walks in and sees two children, Benny and Kate as they ask for his autograph. Bert does it as Benny claims that Bert is the funniest clown ever. Bert then does his show, pies and everything. Today, Bert felt so good; he tried the scariest trick ever. Riding a unicycle, juggling swords, chewing gum, and still balancing a diamond on the top of his head! And, and… The crowd goes nuts as Bert pulls it off for a full 5 minutes!! Bert is then known as the best clown ever in Tinyville circus history! The Wish I Never Wanted By Sydney Plymouth, Minnesota My little brother is such the pest. I often wish he wasn't there. My mom says be careful what you wish for, or it will come true. My birthday was just last week. My Uncle gave me a coin because I collect them. "Bobby," he told me, "This is a very special coin so don't lose it." He left after that, back to Chicago, so I didn't get to see him any more. I soon noticed it came with a note. As I unfolded it, I noticed it was my Uncle's handwriting. On it, it said… "Bobby, Sorry I could not say more when I came to visit. The coin I gave you had a power to it. You can make one wish and it will come true. Use it wisely." That was all it said. Well, I thought, I Wish I didn't have a little brother. Instantly my room had begun to spin. It lasted for about 2 minutes. Finally it stopped. I went out to the hallway and I noticed something. My little brother's room was gone!!! Instead it was an exercise room. I was happy. The coin worked!!! I was so happy. I went to the garage and pulled out my skateboard. As I was racing down the driveway I realized something. I didn't have anybody to play catch with, nobody to play gamecube with. I wanted my little brother back. I went to my room, took out the coin and redid my wish. Again it started to spin. But then it stopped. I went to the hallway to see my little brother staring at me. "Yippee," I shouted and ran to my brother. That was one wish I didn't want after all. Lily's Wings By Megan Plymouth, MN Once there was a duckling named Lily, she liked flying but she wasn't the best at it. One day Lily decided to go flying and meet some new animals. She finally got a hold of herself, but it didn't last long she started tipping and down she went, stumbled and landed in a dump. She looked up and saw a dog; he looked to be searching for something. The dog realized her and said, "Are you ok?" Lily replied, "Yeah, I am fine." The dog went back to work. Lily was curious so she asked "Are you looking for something?" He stated, "Yes I am, I don't have an owner, he abandoned me when I was just a little pup. Now we don't have anything." "I can help you; I can dig down and look for food in small places." The dog replied, "That would be great!" Lily dug down in the piles of trash. Eventually she found a big box of food, 'what a waste' she thought. One by one she took each piece of food to the top. By the time she was done she had gotten enough food to have a feast! Lily didn't know but the dog didn't have a starving family, he was a dog looking for animals that were willing to do something good for others. A week later, Lily recognized the dog at the park, he told her the truth. He was giving good citizens gifts as a reward for their time and help for others. Lily's gift was a pair of beautiful wings that kept her flying as graceful as a butterfly. Nobody really knows what ended up of the dog, but I think wherever he is, he is on a mission to find a loyal animal to help others. The Lucky Tail Feather By Hannah Wayzata, Minnesota Once there was a little duck named Quackers who didn't know how to QUACK and his dream was to learn how to quack. One day while waddling around, Quackers stopped at a house with a pond in the backyard. He couldn't resist the water. When he started running up to the pond, he noticed a little girl struggling to make a free-throw shot. Quackers introduced himself. The girls name was Kate. After Kate and Quackers got to know each other a little better, Kate realized that Quackers couldn't quack. Kate asked Quackers, "Can you quack?" Quackers answered shamefully with his head down low, "No." She then asked, "Would you like some help learning how to quack?" "Yes!" They came to an agreement that Kate would do quacking lessons everyday after school. After a lot of hard work, Quackers finally made a perfect QUACK! Quackers was ecstatic! He wanted to give Kate something really special in return. Knowing she would want some lessons on shooting a free-throw, Quackers asked if that was something she might want. Kate had no clue on how a duck would help her learn how to shoot a free-throw but Quackers had an idea. Since Kate did a favor for Quackers and taught him how to quack, Quackers was now a "LUCKY DUCK." His mother told him, "A "LUCKY DUCK" has magical tail feathers. When someone blesses you, you are able to bless them back with a magical tail feather." Quackers gave Kate the lucky tail feather to help her free-throw shot. Kate practiced day after day and became the most valuable player on her team. At her final game her free-throw shot was better than ever and she scored the final point. Her team won the game! Dan thought, "Right. Why would I report my friend? And, how could we see him? He was the first to escape from school. We're locked in here day and night. Although Jeff had his pencil. He said he would leave me one where no teacher could reach it. Ever since he left I've been looking. But since I'm only in third grade, I can't reach tall places." Then I was awoken from my daydream by slapping of a ruler by Mr. Fort. As I raised my hand I forgot about the shackles so I received a shock. I asked hand down, which wasn't a bright idea because I received another shock, "Bathroom please?" He nodded but called in a staff to make sure I didn't escape. I knew he had to go. As soon as I left the classroom I kicked him, which knocked him out. I took the keys and ran. I ran into a closet and grabbed the pencil. I don't know how I knew it was there. Suddenly teachers came in and I pressed the BIG… RED… BUTTON. Suddenly time stopped. I pressed DRILL and BIG. Suddenly a giant drill dug to the ground. It was on AUTO so it just drilled through the ground. I knew what next. The school's defense system. The TEDDY. It was unstoppable. I could see them through the tunnel. I couldn't steer. The teddies activated their jetpacks. I knew I was a goner. Then I saw a bright light. THE SUN! As I was inches from surface my pencil was shredded to bits by the claws of TEDDY. I mumbled," No," I dug inches further and the bright light melted the TEDDY. I WAS FREE! Bambi's Surprise By Thomas Minneapolis, Minnesota Once upon a time there was a little baby named Bambi. So today at school in Mrs.Severino's 3rd period class she handed a big book to us and she replied everyone's picture is in this yearbook including mine. Day of the Boats By Hannah Plattsburgh, NY Late one day in the middle of the night The people of Vermont saw a strange sight. A string of boats was crossing the lake, One after another in each other's wake. Now these were lead by a single swimmer there, With a black rubber cap pulled over her hair. She'd decided to swim across the lake With a kayak there, for safety's own sake. The girl pulled ahead of the kayak - it's true! The kayak-inear didn't know what to do. He had a cell phone and called up a friend With a faster boat who could catch her again. The friend showed up a minute to five, Revving his boat and ready to drive. The kayak-inear pointed cross the lake, Said, 'We must catch here, for safety's own sake!' The motorboat man set out very fast, But his fuel supply was doomed not to last. The kayak-inear called up another few friends And the same was repeated again and again. There were there both skiff and yacht And then came the fastest boat ever bought. The boats lined up, big and small With some very short, and some very tall. There were out there close to a dozen (Some boy in Vermont exclaimed he'd tell his cousin). The people of Vermont thought it some strange New York Tradition; They never considered a swimmer's expedition. The boats all slow and fast Never caught that swimmer until the last. The New Yorkers discovered what Vermonters have known And adopted this holiday as their own. It's called Day of the Boats Where they line up, all decked out like floats. And so my friends, This tale ends. A Happy Thanksgiving Story By Jocelyne Once there was a little girl named Genesis. It was her first time celebrating Thanksgiving. That day she was very astonished. At first she and her family went to church. They thank God for everything for everything He gave them. She thanked God for her clothes, food, shelter cars, and she also thanked the Lord for her family and her good health. When they went back home her mother prepared a turkey with corn bread, corn, rive, sweet potato pie and different kinds of beans. For desert they ate ice cream, cookies and cake. But before they ate they gave grace. Then they all enjoyed their meal by laughing together. At the end of the night Genesis prayed the Lord to bless all her family. Genesis thanked the Lord one more time about the food that they had eaten. She also said that she hopes that every year on Thanksgiving she can get even more surprises and that then she can thank the Lord for even more things that He gave them. She and her family were so surprised when a huge surprise happened and Genesis secretly kept on thanking the Lord for all the surprises He had given her and her family and for all the Good things that happened to Genesis and her family. So Genesis and her family lived happily ever after. Gobble,Gobble,Gobble By Rinayah Miami,Fl "Happy Thanksgiving everyone" said Penny "today we have prepared a meal for you guys." Penny is a 16 year old who cares about homeless people. Every year she would go down to the homeless shelter and cook them a wonderful meal. This year due to budget cuts the Thanksgiving meal will be very small, Penny explained to everyone. "It's ok" said everyone "we understand." She always tried to cook them decent meals, but this years meal would be the worst meal ever. She felt bad about it. She saved 1,000 dollars of her allowance money, to buy them a better meal than last year. However, that was not enough money to do what she wanted to do for them. During the Lakers vs. the Heat game, she called the sports station to make an announcement and many celebrities pitched in. Penny thought this Thanksgiving would be a disaster, but it was not. In fact, they had enough food to last them through Christmas. George Bush offered to pay her 1,000,000 dollars, but she did not take it. Now everyone helps as much as possible. A Person I Will Like To Meet! By Nicole Age 12 One person I will like to meet is my grandfather. I would like to meet him to see how he looks, and to ask him what he like to do. One night I was watching television, and all of a sudden the television went blank then someone walked out of the television. It was a man. I asked him who are you, while I backed away from him. He said I am your grandfather, your dads dad. I said "you are" I can't believe it, I finally get to meet you. My grandfather was dark and light brown, he was tall and between chubby and skinny. I had to ask him what is your favorite sport? He said " I like to read when it's a stormy night." Then he said " my favorite sport is fishing. You like fishing? No wonder I like it so much! He answered yes, did your father teach you how to fish? I said yes and now I love it. He said "the first time I took him fishing he caught a big fish I, I think it was a catfish, it was about 2 feet long and, and it was heavy, I think it was 5lbs". So we kept on talking and when we finished he gave me a big hug and disapered. Who would have known how much I have in common with my granddad. I have admired him and respect him for everything he has done. The Boy Who Goes To Beauty School By Tamara Miami, Florida "Mom I'm going umhhh to the park" said Andre. Thanksgiving. A Time of Love and Family By Jarron-Charles Age 11 Miami, Florida North Dade Middle School Many people think that Thanksgiving is a regular traditional holiday. It is a traditional holiday but, it is really a time for love and family. You are suppose to still love that specific family member that gets on your last nerve because they ate the last portions of grandmother's great and delicious collard greens and a family to share grandfather's big, round and juicy turkey with. In this story I will tell you a story about my traditional family Thanksgiving celebration. On Thanksgiving Day of the year 2006, I discovered the true purpose of Thanksgiving. While going to my cousin's house I had always thought Thanksgiving was a day for eating food like collard greens, cornbread, yellow rice, chicken, turkey and ham. As I went into my cousin's house every one who arrived early were sharing laughter and telling jokes and then, a five letter word came to my senses: "UNITY". There after a few hours of being under the wings of my family I'd finally recognized the true and meaningful purpose of Thanksgiving. The purpose is for love and family. Now I can tell the world about Thanksgiving and why I celebrate it The Magical Fish By Joshua Miami Florida There once was a farmer who was very poor. He had a wife and four children. He was noble, honest, and very nice. He also was a very good fisherman. One day the he went out fishing and caught a magical fish. Of course he didn't know that it was magical, he just thought it was beautiful. He thought that it was too beautiful to be killed and so he threw it back into the sea. Then the water started to bubble. The water turned from green to red to yellow and blue and purple. Then out with a big boom came the fish that he threw back into the sea. "Thank you kind and noble fisherman for sparing my life. For that I will give you three wishes," the fish said. The fisherman thought long and hard. Then he said, "I want to be rich enough to give my children and wife all they want, let them not be sad ever again, and most importantly stay with them all my life." The fish said,"It shall all be granted to you. Good bye, good luck, and thank you", and with that he was gone. The farmer went home and all his wishes came true and he lived happily ever after with his family. Name That Animal By Josephine. Miami, FL. This animal has feathers, it's feathers are colorful. They say it's good for you, But I don't agree. When I stuff myself with candy, I am smiling with glee. I feel great. I could have one more plate Of the candy. My mom yells and yells, But I don't listen. I just say rock candy glistens. I say no, no I can't eat that, Then I run in circles and never stop, Until she pours candy down on top, On top of every surface known to man This delicious candy I demand! The only thing I get sick of, is, My green looking teeth; I can't believe I have green teeth When I don't eat anything green. To me it doesn't make sense. To me it's not humane. I fail at almost everything I do. All sports, everything, just everything. I try everything but nothing fits me. I have tried basketball, football, golf, and chess. Ohhhh but did I tell you of the thing I absolutely am the best at. Well here is my story. It all started when my mom told me I should I should take up something to do. I tried basketball. My team passed me the ball I shot it hit the bottom of the rim and came back to hit me in the head. It happened a second time but this time it was for the game winning shot. I was miserable. I then tried football. I was wide open in the end zone and the quarterback threw me the ball. I dropped. A second time I caught it and there was only 3 yards ahead and no one to stop me. I fumbled on myself. Tried golf and had the same failing result. I swung the club and missed the ball. The club flew out of my and landed in the hole. I tried again I missed the ball ad hit a guy in the head. Ouch. I even tried chess and moved my pieces in a way that I checkmated myself. I acted too and ended up saying someone else's line. There was a talent show and my friend dared me to sing. I signed up and I sang. When I finished the room was quiet. I began to walk off when the entire crowd jumped on there feet and cheered for more. I found something at last. Going to Town By Elisabeth Age 7 Woodbury, NJ Lily hated getting up in the morning. But today, she got up quickly. She avoided the comb, but brushed her teeth. She was going to town! She got dressed and tiptoed past Tom, her brother. She went downstairs and saw her mother. She tried to tiptoe past, but her mother saw her. "Come over here and help me with breakfast," she said. Lily knew she had to, or her mama would ask her little sister, Amy. Amy always put in the wrong ingredients. "Now, Lily. We must get breakfast," her mother said, putting down the pan she was holding. Lily did as she was told. She mixed the ingredients, put the cornmeal in the oven, and let it bake. When she was done, Lily went upstairs to help Amy and Baby Molly get dressed. Her oldest brother slept with her parents, so she only had to go past their room. She quickly got her sisters dressed, went downstairs, and met her parents at the table. "So, we're going to town today,'' Mother laughed. "Well, if we are, let's eat our breakfast now." So they did. Molly wanted to go to town, but she was too young. Mamma and Amy weren't going either, but that was because of Molly. Soon they left for town. Lily rode a horse, so she was one of the first to get there. Town was so big, compared to their seven-roomed house. She turned left twice, then turned right. She rode on for an hour. Finally, she saw the general store. She went inside and by the time she came out, the rest of the group was there. "Well, it is about five, so," began Papa, but Lily broke in: "I do not want to leave." But they did. They had a nice warm supper that night, then went to sleep after a long day at town. The Surprise By Katherine Age 7 Woodbury, NJ Nancy couldn't wait till Thanksgiving. The Colorful Coloring Kittens By James Age 10 Beachwood, Ohio One kitten stepped in green paint and walked on the white couch. Another fell in black paint and lay on the couch. One put his tail in blue paint and helped decorate the couch. Two kittens tipped a can of brown paint on the couch. One took yellow paint and made yellow carpet. The next put purple paint on his paws and played with a mouse dipped in red paint. Two kittens stirred yellow and blue paint to make green paint, and dumped it on the chairs, which were one hundred years old. The kitten whose tail was blue mixed blue and red giving purple, and poured it on the expensive table. Red and yellow paint were mixed in the really old bowl to make orange, which was splattered on the paneling. Three kittens mixed blue, yellow, and red to make brown, which soon decorated the ceiling. Suddenly mother cat woke up and realized that it was just a dream. She went back to sleep, not seeing the mischief her kittens were up to, which included the brown couch and the yellow carpet.
