New Friend
By Manuela

One day there were 5 little ducks swimming in the lake. Then all of a sudden a frog came out of nowhere!!!
    "Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Screamed 4 ducks.
The 5th duck went up to the frog and they became friends. Before you knew it they were playing.
The other 4 ducks just stared at them for 1 minute.
Next, 2 little ducks said, "We are going to join them."
    And they did.
The other 2 ducks just waited.
When the frog and the ducks were playing in the mud, 1 duck decided to play so he went over and played.
The 4 ducks and the frog said to the last duck, "Come over and join the fun."
But the duck was too scared of the frog. He was afraid that the frog would tease him because he looked different from the others.
Finally, the last duck decided that it was safe to go and went to join the fun.

A Hat For Me
By Gus

One day in the first week of school there was a club, a hat club.
But the club said you can't join. You don't have a hat like us. I will find a hat to join the club.
I found a fancy hat but not the kind of hat to get into the club.
I found a dancing hat but not the kind of hat to get into the club.
I saw a cha cha hat but not the kind of hat to get into the club.
I found all kinds of hats. A dancing hat I found a fancy hat and a cha cha hat.
    But what was left?
Then I found a regular hat. Just what I needed to get into the club, but the price was twenty dollars.
I reached deep into my pocket and I did have twenty dollars! I gave it to the man and took the hat.
I ran back to the club. One of the club members peeked out. "Come in! Come in!" said he.
We had a big party that night.
It was fun. "I didn't know there was a party," said the boy.
Then it was time to go home. The boy was happy.
"I knew I was going to get into the club," said the boy, and he went straight home.
A Bunch of Frogs
By Kristiana

Age 11

The storm in Alyssa's town had just rained a bunch of frogs! It was very weird weather, and all over the news.
Alyssa caught two from her yard and kept them in a little tank. Looking at them, she decided that one should be called Dot—for the frog had dots all over her—and the other should be called Zebra, for he had stripes all over him like a zebra.
She fed them with crickets, gave them water, and cared for them.
After three weeks, her mother said that Alyssa should let the frogs go. Alyssa was very unhappy that she had to release the frogs, since she had grown so attached to them while she had cared for them.
But she did as her mother said, and Dot and Zebra were let out into nature and lived in the nearby pond.
As Alyssa was cleaning out the cage and putting it in storage, she saw a bunch of little white eggs!
"Mom!" she called. "They had babies!"
Her mother took all but three of the eggs to the nearest pet shop, and Alyssa raised three more frogs.
Alyssa and her family started Alyssa's Frogs, and soon, Alyssa was well known all over for her wonderful frogs.
    They lived happily ever after—Ribbit!
